I'm a professional programmer and hobby artist of 20 years, so naturally I'm curious about the capabilities of AI. It wasn't until last year, 2025, that it truly piqued my interest. Magoloric tried out the Anlatan company's NovelAI image generator, which was trained on a huge set of furry art (likely scraped from e621 and/or similar sites). It was the first time I could create art of my own original character with a mere prompt ("ket ralus"). I know some artists might be troubled to have their work swallowed by AI, but I was thrilled! Now the possibilities are limitless~
But first, let's get the obvious out of the way: AI only works because it analyzes and repurposes art from a multitude of artists. You can define training however you want, but I've never seen a real artist use another artist's Patreon watermark as part of their own image (this can actually happen with AI art).
With that in mind, I'll continue to support real artists. There are several artists currently dependent on me and my game Oh So Hero! I intend to keep them working and maintain a bastion of raw human (furry) creativity that can endure in sea of ever-improving AI.
And yet, with my prurient interests, I can't help but use my spare time to experiment with different apps, software, and AI models. I see AI image generation as a remixing tool that fills the space between browsing and creating; specifically, browsing for art on sites like e6 or X, as well as creating art the classic way. I've created side channels for my AI works that you can join or ignore as you wish. Of course, it includes a lot of my own character, Ket, so maybe you'll like it? Anyway, I had a lot of fun generating this stuff, and it's nice to enjoy for personal use~ ;}
Having said all that, I will not be posting any AI generations to the Ket Ralus Gallery. This news entry serves as the sole mention of my AI activity. I prefer to keep this gallery strictly to hand-drawn digital and traditional art: bespoke works by real human artists~ =}
