This past Sunday evening I was in another oC session since I finally got my pen tablet drivers working properly. As usual, I couldn't decide what to draw, so I had Aquacoon suggest a subject, which was Dry Bones and Koopa Troopa. <ins datetime="2009-11-27T01:06:37+00:00">The session ended up crashing while I was still working on the sketch, but I took it into Photoshop to finish it over the past few days.</ins> I tried my best to stay away from poses I've done in the past, because I have a bad habit of unintentionally reusing poses, and that makes my work stale. My inking and coloring was somewhat influenced by the style of the Mario Hoops 3-on-3 character art, but that is actually very much like my usual style. The background was quick and lazy, but I added random bones as props (one actually being used to reposition the Koopa's penis), which should evoke the sense of some dismal lair the Dry Bones has taken the Koopa to (wherein he strips the Koopa nude and has his way with him).

It's a short, violent bit of fanfiction, hopefully it's your bag. I must say I do prefer the living variety just a tad more compared to Dry bones though, since they usually have this nice little belly to them.
Definitely too violent and disturbing for me to be aroused. (Also there wasn't a whole lot of sex.) But, wow, I have to say it's incredibly vivid and emotionally provoking for such a short story. I personally felt a bit sad as I read towards the conclusion. However, the last sentence doesn't really make sense to me; it could have been fleshed out more or better built up to earlier in the story. Regardless, this is a good fic that brings some realism to a somewhat overlooked "cartoon"-ism, if that made any sense to you. Anyway, I think you've got some talent at writing and I hope you keep at it.
Straying off topic, but as you should know, I liked your stories "Arctic" and "Summer Dreams". I'm gonna read a bit more of your stuff too. =}
Mmm, I can always count on you to give me something in-depth to consider. Originally that ending was in place for a potential, dreary sequel where the Dry Bones keeps his lover even down in an underwater Koopa outpost, drowning the living koopa troopa and other resulting gruesome imagery. However, it just fell through without any drive to create it. And yes, I do like taking "cartoon-y" sort of concepts like the idea that a Dry Bones is just magically created from a Koopa Troopa skeleton and using a realistic sort of approach to just how it happens. I like that sort of dichotomy between cutesy characters and overly violent or sexual content.
The very same idea is at work here too, if you don't mind me making the connection, since the idea that a dead Koopa Troopa would have enough sexual desire and criminal intent left in him to capture and then rapes him is also particuarly unsettling. Yet you present it slanted with a healthy dose of cute style that helps to dampen this impact, making it that much more pleasing to see and far less awkward to masturbate to.
You're exactly right. I don't need to explain it any further than that.
On a related note, as for my personal outlook on violent imagery -- or more generally any "negative" emotion -- there's a point where it can get so intense that I become shocked or saddened, and feelings such as sexual arousal go out the window. Of course, I always commend stories that can make me feel these kind of depressing emotions, regardless of what it does to my penis. I suppose I'm just kind of like Iceman in your "Arctic" story; I need to have my mind filled with pleasant thoughts in order to get my gratification. This erotic indulgence may lack in realism, but it's all fantasy anyway.
Anyway yeah, I really don't get off on gore, despite what the fic may lead you to believe. No, my bag is more in depression and general sadness, which it has in spades after the fact and all. Cute, adorable sorts of situations are a close second though.

That sounds like a good idea to try at some point. But I was just thinking about using a wider variety of emotions and expressions in my art in general. I tend to focus too much on the character models and forget about their personalities. It's an ongoing learning process.
