I'm beginning the long process of updating my gallery for 2025, including several art pieces completed near the end of 2024. But I also like to go back to the old stuff once in a while to organize the disarray caused by my many migrations of data and software, as well as the endless retooling of processes and "standards" (of which I can never seem to keep standard for long, though in my defense, the world is ever-changing).
This is a piece from 2011: An avatar (profile picture) of Ket created in the style of Roy Lichtenstein. It was originally uploaded as >>10508, though at some point it was deleted for a reason that is lost to me and lost to time. I've decided to re-upload it, as well as several alternate versions that you can find in the source link. Actually, you could/can still find the one titled "new" as one of several random avatars on the front page of my website.
Somehow I still have the writeup included with my original post from 2011-05-31, so I will include that here:
I was past due for a new avatar. A while back ago, temp_anon suggested that I do some art in the style of Roy Lichtenstein. So that's basically what this is. Of course, Roy basically just used the prevailing comic book style of the time and blew up the scale to that of a full canvas for a painting. He even directly referenced specific panels nearly to the point of plagiarism. Anyway, the avatar is done, and here it is!
