Ket has needed a redesign for a while, and more specifically, a solid design period. I normally don't post images this large, but I wanted to show more of the detail, and I also wanted to keep it directly proportional with my Brask model sheet (now you know exactly how their sizes contrast). Also, as in the last case, the working file is much larger. Of note here is the expanded name (Ket Ralus), and also the species name, Achelthym, both of which I devised during a train ride back from NYC several months ago.
Ket has been drawn various times with many varying features. However, the original nude Ket pic is a throwback to my older, more literal, and overall poorer interpretation of anatomy. I'm not going to detail everything, but the main problem was that the body was just too human. It had no character. My new model is more cartoony and even a bit more turtle-like, with body part size ratios often flipped around completely, larger feet, and many more tweaks.
Of course, while I'm very satisfied with the result of my hard work, this doesn't come without concerns: I couldn't get the lower part of Ket's eyes to match up on the front and side without causing problems to his beak, I didn't give much consideration to his ears, tail, or color scheme, and I didn't draw Ket's mouth open, so there's no way to tell what shape or color his tongue is (I'm undecided anyway). There's also the likely probability that I just drew some parts wrong, but that's a fact of life.
