Two months ago while surfing the tubular interwebs, I hit a mascot porn bonanza. His name is Dewie, he's a turtle, and he's the <a href="http://www.news.com/2100-1023-959625.html">Internet mascot</a> (of the FTC). Well, at least he <em>was</em>. It seems that once Dewie found my website, the security shell came off, and all hell broke loose. These sketches illustrate this moment.
I plan on tweaking Dewie's position. As Argon pointed out to me, the position of his feet in the main sketch (bottom) are very similar to that of my Koopa Troopa picture, but this is unintentional. I changed things a little in my newer sketch (top right), but I plan to make further modifications. Naturally, a full picture will (eventually) come as a result of all these sketches.
we like turtles! the colors are coming along nice here, the simple two-tone look is a fun way to color sometimes. concentrate a lot on keeping those internal lines that define those shadows pretty and smooth. i think you're doing a good job!

I actually do plan on using the two-tone style for the final picture, but the shadows will be much more smooth than in this rough sketch. I will try to stay close to the same style that the official art is done in. Observe:
